Jan Romportl is an AI Strategist & Executive Advisor. Ph.D. in AI, former Chief Data Scientist and Director of the AI Centre at O2 / PPF, founder of Dataclair.ai, built & exiting Elin.ai. Czech AI Personality of the Year 2024; AI Personality 2025 in the Security category. He helps leaders make high-stakes AI decisions without the hype.
Long bio (~200 words, canonical)
Jan Romportl has spent more than twenty years in AI – as a researcher, an executive and a founder. He holds a Ph.D. in artificial intelligence and master's degrees in cybernetics and philosophy, with an academic visit to the Future of Humanity Institute in Oxford. In 2015 he left academia – where he led the Department of Man-Machine Interaction at the University of West Bohemia – to become Chief Data Scientist at O2 Czech Republic, where he founded Dataclair.ai, the AI Centre of O2 and the PPF Group, and led its 40-person team as director. He then built Elin.ai, an AI startup protecting young people's mental health on social media, and is currently exiting it. Today he works as an independent AI Strategist & Executive Advisor for boards, executives and product leaders – workshops, keynotes and advisory sparring, with a strong safety and governance lens. He chairs the advisory board of the Czech AI Association, has organized the Prague AI Safety Meetup since 2018, and previously led a research group at the National Institute of Mental Health. He was named Czech AI Personality of the Year 2024, and AI Personality 2025 in the Security category – exactly his agentic-safety lane. He is also a runner, a PADI divemaster, a private pilot and a lifelong Atari enthusiast.
